If there was one concert worth seeing this year at Emory, it was the one given by the Warsaw Philharmonic conducted by Antoni Wit last Friday. From the plain flute intro in Lutoslawski’s arrangement of various Polish folk melodies, to the loud, exuberant end to […]

I may be 22, but places like Opera and Sutra Lounge just aren’t my jam (#grandma #sorryI’mnotsorry).  I’m more of a Brickstore, Virginia Highlands, or The Ivy type of girl.  I like the low-key feel so I can hang out and chat with my fellow […]

Coachella is here, and all anyone can talk about is TUPAC RESURRECTED!! Let's let that sink in. Okay, now let's be real: resurrected technologically. Murdered over 15 years ago, the rapper guest starred during a Dr Dre/Snoop Dogg set that literally took the audience's breath away. He performed two of his biggest hits, "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted" and "Hail Mary," as a hologram created by Digital Domain Media Group (also responsible for virtualizing Brad Pitt as Benjamin Button). Now if that wasn't enough of a cherry on top of Tupac's combined lifetime and post-mortem achievement list, WSJ is reporting that Tupac('s hologram) may be going on tour. Let's be clear: That's wild. And will probably sell out in hours... Tupac represents the rise from rags to riches that resonates for people of all ages and races. His music might be gritty and "gangsta," but it also has melody and flow that even the East Coast haters can appreciate. So with that, I wanted to share one of my favorite Tupac tracks. Keeping the music, and the dream, alive "Until the End of Time." -MK2KC

About a month ago, I had the distinct pleasure of becoming a genre director at WMRE. What that means is that I contribute an album for the heavy rotation playlist at the station. All good fun! And I, in my infinite wisdom, signed up to […]

Maybe Justin Vernon's recent tyrade of obscene and conceited comments are more a result of too much blog hype, or whatever, but either way, I continuously forget that he is actually a talented musician. He's also been pretty bad on the Late Night showcasings, so that probably hasn't helped him much either. BUT, this video here, including stripped down versions of a collection of Bon Iver tracks, is pretty fantastic and truly worth a watch/listen. Check it. -- AV
